Choice Imperial Japanese Army officer's sword and scabbard of Kyu Gunto form, 88cm overall with 72cm fullered blade of traditional form. Brass mounted hilt with same covered grip, the backstrap with the original owner's family mon. Steel scabbard. These swords were used during the Russo-Japanese war of 1905, they are scarce and this is a fine heavy example in very good condition
